Brief Vita

Professor Homer received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and her Master of Architecture at Arizona State University in Tempe.  She has been a practicing architect in Chicago, Phoenix, and Oklahoma, having received her professional registration in Illinois in 1998.  While she was practicing in Chicago and Phoenix, she taught at the Art Institute of Chicago and Arizona State University.

Jeanne received the 2007 ACSA/AIAS New Faculty Teaching Award, the 2006 Halliburton Excellent Young Teacher Award, and the 2013 OSU International Education Faculty Excellence Award.

In addition to carrying on an active architectural practice, many of Jeanne's scholarship and creative activities relate to teaching the Comprehensive Design Studio.  Topics include collaboration and integration of systems.  She has also been pursuing cross-disciplinary opportunities, including leading a low-impact development competition team, receiving a NIST grant with a fire-protection faculty member to produce an educational video about emergency egress, and as part of a cross-disciplinary proposal for creating a Center to measure the disaster resilience of communities.
